A cure for all ills – a change of scenery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital brings smiles to the faces of patients and parents alike: brighter colours, more space, a homely environment but hygienically practical without that clinical feel. Another special project for Spacestor. The 1st October saw the start of the big 5-day move of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. The hospital, which has taken two years to build, has a design inspired by the children, with greater facilities for families, en-suite rooms, green spaces and play areas.

Spacestor is delighted to announce that our Forté range of loose storage was specified for this new state-of-the-art medical facility.

Spacestor worked closely with the architect BDP to achieve the finishes and look required within the clients budget. The design was then fine-tuned further with the hospital to meet their specialist ongoing maintenance requirements. This involved a special plinth detail and raising all units off the floor to allow maximum floor area exposure for cleaning.

The new block is a vast improvement on the existing Victorian facilities on the same site and the opening and the beginning of the 5-day move on October 1st was covered by the BBC – click here to view.
