Located at One Centenary Way in Birmingham, the new Mills & Reeve space is a bold, dynamic workspace, challenging preconceived notions and seeking to set a new standard in the industry. Claremont’s triumphant delivery exudes choice, enables teamwork, builds community and encourages employees to come together for work and relaxation.

Employees can choose from various touchdown settings, pods for quiet work, team settings, meeting rooms and more. Desks for solo work occupy the office’s perimeter to maximise light and aid concentration – while more dynamic and collaborative settings are based in the core.

A new onsite catered café is the cultural and social heart of the Mills & Reeve community. It provides a bright and open space for employees to come together to socialise throughout the day, and its constant use helps to make this area feel connected to the main floorplate.

With a vision that incorporates sustainability and has the wellbeing of the firm’s employees at its heart; special design consideration is given to mobility and accessibility needs, different working methods, neurodivergent employees, wellbeing, and prayer. The project also achieved SKA silver certification, using existing furniture and equipment where possible and sourcing new items from sustainable and local manufacturers.

Understanding the hybrid workplace calls for tech-enabled spaces especially designed for video calls, Spacestor provided Residence Connect, the private single-user video conferencing pod. These pods feature button-activated doors, accessible door widths, level access, and height-adjustable desks, ensuring they are accessible for everyone in the client’s workforce. Every employee on location has access to an ergonomic space where they can focus and connect virtually, without distractions.

Organic curves and arches help to soften and zone the vast floorplate. They appear on the flooring, lighting, free-standing furniture, and meeting spaces and have even been used to create an arched welcome for employees. Spacestor provided the arches and curved collaborative space with Aeonica, their modular toolkit for the workplace.

Aeonica brings a welcoming aesthetic, whilst its modular design allows for the future reconfiguration of modules to create a different configuration within the space. Aeonica arches are used again in the dedicated business lounge to create a colonnade wall feature, paired with colour-changing lighting so Mills & Reeve can personalise their space to the occasion.

Spacestor also provided Storagewall and HotLocker solutions. These units cater to both general and personal storage needs, ensuring that employees have convenient access to their belongings in a fluid, agile environment. Bespoke graphics adhered to the front of the lockers add a unique touch, incorporating Mills & Reeve’s branding into the design. Additionally, Snugglestor, integrated into the locker runs, offer employees a comfortable spot to change their shoes or quickly catch up on their phone before heading out.
