For the Stockton-on-Tees Borough council it was important that their new space reflected the council’s forward looking identity and aspirations. Workpattern collaborated closely with them to trial pilot spaces and test different workplace settings to ensure that all needs would be met, and get a deeper understanding of the culture, working styles, and activities of the staff.

The whole space is designed to flow and have a feeling of purpose, with a lot of natural light, materials and textures throughout to enhance wellbeing and lead to higher productivity.

Different zones and space settings allow colleagues to move around throughout the working day, working individually or within teams. This was created with the use of softer seating, more informal breakout areas as well as traditional bank desking, meeting rooms, and a number of pods and booths supplied by Spacestor.

Our Portals Open products were chosen as individual spaces that employees can get out of the central buzz, but still feel connected whilst focusing, or doing more private tasks.

Alongside this was our Railway Carriage, specified in the same finishes to have a quality and seamless look. In addition to this, one of our Railway Carriages was scribed in to a run of Storagewall and Lockers, to create the bespoke feeling of joinery through using modular furniture. Having this mix of storage options provides both personal and shared storage for colleagues to utilize.

Beyond its intentionally designed office and workspaces, the building features equally considered areas such as the reception, teapoint, and staff canteen. Each space has been thoughtfully finished to create a welcoming, elevated environment that supports staff experience and reflects Stockton Council’s commitment to high‑quality facilities.
