As part of a wider programme to modernise its UK workplace portfolio, Allianz relocated its Leeds team to City Square House, creating an environment better suited to the needs of a contemporary workforce.

The new 15,900 sq ft office was designed by Claremont around the requirements of a large customer service team, with an open-plan layout that encourages communication while supporting day-to-day operational efficiency. At the heart of the workplace is a generous multi-purpose hub that acts as a social and collaborative destination for employees.

Flexible furniture and integrated technology allow the space to adapt quickly for a variety of uses, from informal team gatherings to larger all-hands presentations. A dedicated client hospitality area takes advantage of views across City Square, creating a professional and welcoming experience for visitors, while thoughtful acoustic treatments and space planning help balance privacy and openness throughout the office.

Drawing inspiration from Leeds itself, the design incorporates references to the city's architecture and industrial heritage through materials, finishes, lighting features, and bespoke detailing. These elements help create a workspace with a strong local identity while remaining consistent with Allianz's wider brand standards.

To support a variety of working styles within the open-plan environment, Spacestor supplied Railway Carriage Banquette seating installed within dedicated alcoves. Enhanced with integrated mood lighting, these comfortable retreat spaces provide employees with an alternative setting for informal meetings, focused conversations, or individual work. An existing Railway Carriage with a pitched roof was also used in the scheme, and the uniform style and design brings consistency through the furniture pieces.

The enclosed design creates a sense of separation and privacy without disconnecting users from the wider office, offering a practical balance between collaboration and concentration.

Completed within a focused nine-week delivery programme, the project achieved SKA Silver accreditation, reflecting Allianz's commitment to responsible and sustainable workplace design.
