A recent expansion into Manchester, following significant growth, led the leading fintech organisation to engage in a partnership with Overbury for the design and build of their new location. With the objective to curate a destination space and attract young local talent, the project needs were set out as strongly aligning to the client’s mission, to revolutionise banking.

“ We are delighted with the office. The finishes are of a very high standard, and we have got a final design which matches exactly what we asked for. ”
- Client Feedback

With plans to create up to 1,000 new jobs, the workplace required a dynamic layout which would support the forward-thinking culture of the organisation. Whilst offering flexibility, a choice of various work styles, and the facilitation of collaboration, it was crucial that this project maintained a high standard of sustainability, materiality and workmanship.

Part of the workplace strategy included the incorporation and placement of varying spaces through the floorplate. Single-user pods for quiet work, large seminar-style training rooms, brainstorming areas, and one-to-one mentoring spaces. Flexibility is maintained through a Meccano-inspired flexible pod seating system that can be reconfigured for different group sizes. To stimulate the buzz of a fast-paced office environment, the central hub includes a cafe style area which serves as a gathering point, fostering relationships and collision of ideas across departments.

Spacestor worked with Overbury and their client to provide varied spaces for collaboration, through Verandas. Verandas is a modular meeting room system which has three main pillars, its inherent sustainability, flexible reconfigurability and endless customisability. As an alternative to fixed meeting rooms, Verandas opens opportunities for future adaptability through its modular nature.

Able to be reconfigured and relocated when space needs change, Verandas was chosen as a way of building flexibility into the space, affording the office an ability to flex and change with dynamic demand.

The use of natural timbers, muted colours and biophilic elements contributes towards a stunning aesthetic, complimented with bold branding and innovative accents. Created to attract and provide for top talent, a focus during the concept design phase of the project was the consideration of employee wellbeing and choice.  The resulting workplace has been enthusiastically received by users, as they are able to inhabit the collaborative, quiet and social zones based on the tasks they are completing.

Client feedback on the space has been overwhelmingly positive with a representative from the company sharing, "We are delighted with the office. The finishes are of a very high standard, and we have got a final design which matches exactly what we asked for."

The new Manchester home for leading fintech client is one that emanates spirit of the organization and is closely aligned with the needs of its employees. Supporting a dynamic environment, attracting young top talent in the new area and laying the basis for future growth, the workplace is an example of the importance and power of real estate and design intent for an organisation’s strategy.
