Cool Workspaces
Gensler have recently designed their new historically-inspired offces in London. Designed to act like a workshop, and feel like a home.
Gensler's permanent home in Moretown, East London provided not only an opportunity to create a unique workspace, but also to transform their internal processes and working methods to develop it into a way that is relevant to their businesses and clients.
Gensler required a modern workspace which would act as a creative platform, empowering employees working in the space, and allowing them to evolve the way they work. The space needed to allow for growth and flexibility as the business is adopting more agile ways of working. At the same time, it was important the design process allowed for user engagement and transparency.
Gensler's teams worked to create a design scheme inspired by locality and contextual history. This is seen through the building materials used in the space - timber, brick and exposed steel. 'Bringing the outside, inside' was key to the design and this fluid industrial and experimental character truly reflects how Gensler define themselves in terms of constant change.
Repositioning No.6 has significantly reduced carbon impact, as opposed to building completely anew. The building has acheived both a Design Stage assessment and an interim BREEAM Excellent rating.
