Confidential Financial Services Client
Revamping their workspace in Leeds, this organisation embraced warmth, inclusivity and hybrid flexibility.
When the UK-based leading financial organisation decided to create a flagship workspace in Leeds, the challenge was monumental.
The Group's ambition was to craft a workspace that embodied their core values of boldness, inclusivity, sustainability, and trust. The building, achieved the maximum NABERS energy efficiency rating of 5* in addition to an ‘Outstanding’ rating from BREEAM, the only building in Yorkshire with these combined accreditations.
This new hub had to embrace employees’ whole selves while championing collaboration, wellness, and brand-alignment. The foundation of the design was a "90:10" model: 90% consistency across the portfolio for efficiency and functionality, paired with 10% bespoke touches to reflect the unique character of the site. This balance ensured that the new office was fit for purpose while still delivering a distinctive experience tailored to the Leeds location.
With no one-size-fits-all solution, the layout provides colleagues with unparalleled choice - from quiet pods with solid walls for sensory comfort to adjustable-height desks that welcome diverse users. To address clutter and storage needs while maintaining aesthetics, Spacestor’s storage solutions blend style with functionality, keeping the environment organized and accessible. Breakout areas serve dual purposes—social hubs and personal retreats. The working café sources fresh, local produce, reinforcing sustainability while offering moments of culinary delight. Flexible furniture transforms effortlessly to meet the demands of a dynamic workforce, exemplified by Spacestor’s Railway Carriages, which create semi-private zones for collaboration or drop-in spaces for individual work.
Embarking on a curated journey, the space begins with an inviting welcome area, anchored by an accessible desk and digital pillars showcasing brand values and seasonal celebrations. From here, the journey flows into a vibrant working café and multifunctional town hall flex space - the heart of collaboration and community. To support the need for seamless collaboration, Spacestor’s Palisades II architectural dividers elegantly separate areas without sacrificing openness. Deeper within, there are wellness suites, breakout spaces, and dedicated zones for focus work, each crafted with biophilia, acoustics, and sensory impacts in mind.
Colours play a calming role. Neutral and sympathetic tones avoid the visual overwhelm of bright or contrasting hues. The space is thoughtfully zoned by activity level: vibrant areas hum with energy, while quieter corners offer refuge for deep focus. Acoustic baffles, sound-absorbing materials, and decompression pods help employees to manage sensory stimuli, catering to a diverse collection of needs. Spacestor’s Residence Max booths are strategically placed to provide quiet, acoustically secure environments for individual focus work or phone calls.
A fantastic 91% of employees rated the new office as “excellent,” with one remarking, “It’s a modern office space that reflects how [the client] is investing in colleagues.” - a testament to its magnetic appeal and emotion connection.
The office in Leeds is a workspace where bold ideas meet inclusive design, where sustainability marries functionality, and where employees feel seen, heard, and celebrated. The new hub is more than an office - it’s a home for their workplace DNA.
