Booking.com is one of the world’s leading sites for making travel and lodging reservations. Having outgrown their old US headquarters, they decided to move into new premises at 28 Liberty Street, in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district, and enlisted TPG architects to help them relocate into a striking new office featuring a variety of flexible spaces spread over two floors.

Each of Booking.com’s many global offices are influenced by their local surroundings, so the Liberty Street office was designed to reflect its New York City location. Breakout rooms are themed after different neighbourhoods from the five boroughs, with window films, murals, graffiti walls and clever use of furniture creating a series of playful spaces. We installed our Palisades Grid system here in rather a unique way: the Palisades Grid is built into a couple booths, complete with pendant lamps and shelving, to create the feeling of the world-famous Katz’s Delicatessen on East Houston Street, in the Lower East Side. Tables and seating complete the effect, and there you have it; a space that’s half deli, half agile, collaborative architecture within architecture.
