Residence Connect Achieves UL Listing!
We’re excited to announce that Residence Connect has achieved UL Listing! Read on to find out more about this stringent certification.
So firstly, what is UL Listing?
UL, also known as Underwriters Laboratories, are the nationally-recognized, leading test authority in the U.S. Investing a UL-listed product is the best way to ensure you’re getting a safe, properly designed and manufactured solution. In the words of UL themselves, "UL Listing means that UL has tested representative samples of a product and determined that the product meets specific, defined requirements. These requirements are often based on UL's published and nationally recognized standards for Safety." Essentially, it’s a very robust product testing certification focussed on the structure, stability, electrical components, fire safety and strength of the product.
We’re pleased to announce that Residence Connect is the only pod built from the ground up to deliver the ultimate video conferencing experience to have achieved UL listing in the US & Canada, to UL 962.
These tests really put this product through its paces so our clients can rest assured they’re buying into the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. But what exactly does UL cover and why is it important?

What does UL cover?
UL testing covers multiple facets of the product, from making sure that wire sizes are correct to burns testing upholstery to check fire safety. Rigorous testing ensures best product construction and that every product passed can perform to 4x the capabilities claimed. As the global safety science leader, UL provides the expertise, insights and services necessary to benchmark safety, security and sustainability goals, meet quality and performance expectations, manage risk and achieve regulatory compliance.
Why is UL Certification important?
Now more than ever, employee wellbeing, safety and happiness are front-of-mind for Designers, Workplace Strategists, Architects and Facilities Managers. Combining this important need with strict code compliance and health & safety regulations can mean delivering a workplace that is fully compliant as well well-designed and functional becomes a huge challenge. Being certified by UL removes the uncertainty, giving total clarity and assurance of the high standards that the product achieves, allowing specifiers to be completely confident in their decisions.

And finally, how does a product become certified by UL?
Manufacturers submit their products for UL testing, and if a product passes, the manufacturer is permitted to use the official UL mark. Submitting for testing is voluntary, but having a product tested and listed gives a the final stamp of approval that it is as safe and as well constructed as it claims. Not all products can be or have to be listed. For some products, there are no applicable UL standards; for others, the products simply aren’t safe enough to ever be listed.
