TLT Manchester
TLT Eden was thoughtfully crafted with people at the forefront, blending innovative design with a clear commitment to sustainability at every step.
With nearly three decades of forward-thinking legal service across the UK, TLT is a law firm that takes pride in pushing the boundaries of traditional workspace culture. Known for its progressive outlook on employee well-being and environmental responsibility, TLT’s recent move into Manchester’s Eden building, one of the UK’s greenest office spaces, marks another step in their ongoing journey towards net-zero emissions by 2040.
TLT’s vision for the new office was ambitious: a space that didn’t just look sustainable but actively embodied it. Designed and delivered by the team at Interaction, their brief demanded a high level of flexibility and community-focus, while also identifying with Eden’s groundbreaking sustainable architecture. TLT aimed to create an environment that honored Manchester’s unique culture, fostered team collaboration, and met stringent eco-standards – creating an office that stands for tomorrow.
For design and build company Interaction, who has partnered with TLT since 1992, every design decision for their Eden office prioritized people and the planet. From the reclaimed meeting tables to the central coffee bar overlooking Manchester’s skyline, every corner of the new spaces connects function with circumstance and future flexibility. Spacestor’s modular storage solutions played a role in this purposeful partnership, solutions that have and will continue to grow and adapt with TLT for years to come.
Eden’s towering green facade, featuring Europe’s largest living wall, is a statement piece, home to over 350,000 plants that help absorb pollutants and boost biodiversity. Inside, TLT chose materials with similarly high sustainability credentials, like terrazzo worktops crafted from recycled plastics and upcycled lighting reclaimed from RAF bases and schools. Each element, from the recycled leather in the teapoints to the locally inspired artwork, was selected to reinforce the building’s eco-conscious ethos and socially sustainable heart.
To complement these features, Spacestor provided HotLocker as a personal storage solution, giving TLT’s employees provision to store personal items. Storagewall, Spacestor’s sleek, built-in storage system, was used to help TLT keep its office organized and uncluttered. Furniture re-use played a large part in Spacestor’s program, with existing carcases being reapplied and whole runs being relocated to reduce material wastage. The new HotLocker banks were chosen with the confidence of a Declare Label Red List Approved rating and a transparent understanding of what goes into the product.
The completed TLT office space in Manchester is much more than a workspace; it’s an environment that redefines the traditional law office experience. Gone are the days of closed-off reception desks and rigid seating areas. Instead, employees gather at the conciergerie-style entrance or central teapoint, where TLT’s full-time barista serves drinks against a backdrop of breathtaking views over Manchester. The 10th floor workspace encourages social interaction, while the 11th-floor client suite and flexible meeting areas promote a lively atmosphere where teams can work, connect, and innovate together.
From the practical to the inspirational, every inch of TLT’s Eden office embodies a commitment to sustainability and community. As a greenprint for the future of sustainable office design, TLT has the vision for a better tomorrow.
