Badminton School
A fresh and modern refurbishment for the library of the heritage-rich Badminton School
Badminton School's iconic Casson library was the subject of a beautiful new design and refurbishment, creating a truly inspirational learning environment. With the help of education fitout experts, Envoplan, they've created a contemporary, light-flooded space at the hub of the school site.
Founded in 1858, the school has a rich history and some beautifully heritage buildings. Part of the challenge of the design was to use pieces that complimented the historic nature of the building whilst creating a modern and fresh vibe. Student voice and input is highly rated at the school and as a result, the design really showcases the contemporary, light and airy feel the students wanted to create.
Within the space multiple Railway Carriages act as both an ideas hub for collaboration as well as a relaxed, focus space for concentration. Set at the side of the open plan library, they provide a quiet touchdown point away from the central part of the space whilst still being connected to the buzz. The light colour scheme also reflects natural materials, bringing a sense of calm to the library and an uncluttered feel that the students love. This was prominent in recent conversations with students, where they mentioned how the space had really helped them to develop and grow in their learning, and had made the library an even more central part of school life.
We were also pleased to supply our Forte freestanding modules, without the doors to provide the very flexible shelving solution for the library. Being able to customize widths and heights means that they were able to create a completely bespoke look, using standard components.
