Following the success of the previous collaboration in Liverpool, Grant Thornton once again partnered with the Claremont team to help create their new Glasgow workspace. Having relocated to the Aurora Building, just a short walk from their former Queen Street office, the firm set out to right-size while designing a space that better reflects their hybrid working approach. The brief centred around connection, inclusion, and sustainability, with a desire to express the Grant Thornton brand in an authentic and understated way.

The project focused on creating a flexible, people-first environment that could adapt to evolving work patterns. A design was delivered by Claremont that balances collaboration and privacy, while ensuring every element contributes to a sense of belonging and community.

To support the new hybrid model, Spacestor supplied Palisades II, a modular zoning system that brings structure and identity to the open-plan environment. Configured with a combination of arches, shelving, and integrated ply storage, the system creates visual connection while defining areas.

Mycelium panels add a tactile, sustainable texture, and subtle Grant Thornton branding ensures the system feels seamlessly integrated with the rest of the space. The result is a flexible and functional feature that enhances flow and provides opportunities for personalisation and biophilic display.

The interior design subtly carries forward the aesthetic established in the Liverpool office, ensuring brand consistency while introducing a distinct Glasgow identity. Brand colours are delicately incorporated through paint, art, and furniture, while meeting rooms take inspiration from local poets and monuments in George Square. The palette of natural tones, timber finishes, and muted purples creates a warm, professional atmosphere that feels connected both to the brand and the city.

Sustainability was integral to the project from concept through to completion. Using an in-house carbon calculator, the design team measured and reduced the carbon impact of each decision. 84% of furniture was reused or refurbished and products were selected for their recycled content and long lifespan – Palisades was a brilliant option for this, with its endless reconfigurability and ability to relocate.

The result is a workspace that not only supports hybrid work but also aligns with Grant Thornton’s environmental commitments. Accessibility and wellbeing were equally prioritised, with inclusive layouts, a wellbeing and faith room, and natural materials creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere.

The completed Glasgow office perfectly captures Grant Thornton’s forward-thinking approach, with a smaller footprint, yet a greater sense of space and community. The thoughtful use of Palisades II as both a functional and aesthetic element helps define zones, support flexibility, and reinforce a strong sense of brand identity. The result is a connected, inclusive, and sustainable workspace that truly reflects the spirit of both Grant Thornton and the city of Glasgow.
