For global technology companies, workplace design needs to support constant movement between focused work, collaboration, and virtual communication. That challenge has been central to the long-term partnership between Spacestor and Synopsys, who have worked together across multiple sites to create workplaces that balance flexibility, privacy, and efficient use of space.

“ I can’t tell you how popular they are, they are so popular, people queue to use the booths. ”
Andrew Levine, Principal Workplace Lead at Synopsys | Northern Europe & ME

At the recent installation in Dublin, we worked alongside Winroy Interiors and Haworth bring the project to life, delivering a workspace that supports both individual focus work and small-group collaboration without relying on large numbers of traditional enclosed meeting rooms. Employees needed somewhere to take virtual calls, concentrate away from the open office, and collaborate quickly with colleagues throughout the day. In Andrew Levine’s words, “people no longer have to either look for a meeting room, or take up a large meeting room just for calls”.

To achieve this, the space combines Portals Huddle collaboration pods with Portals Quiet individual pods. The Portals Huddles were also customized with additional screens mounted on monitor arms, allowing teams to share content easily and collaborate more effectively during hybrid meetings and project sessions.

Alongside these collaborative spaces, the Portals Quiet pods provide enclosed areas for focused work and private calls, helping employees step away from surrounding distractions while still remaining connected to the wider workplace.

A key part of the project was ensuring the pods felt fully integrated into the architecture of the office. The units were customized in a consistent cladding and upholstery finish, creating a seamless visual run throughout the space rather than appearing as standalone additions. This approach also maximizes efficiency, providing significantly more usable seats and collaboration spaces than would have been possible with traditional built meeting rooms.

The result is a workplace that supports a wide variety of working styles while maintaining a cohesive design language throughout the office. By combining collaboration and focus spaces, the project demonstrates how integrated pod solutions can create more adaptable and highly used workplaces for modern teams.
