Not just a change in aesthetics, but a shift in philosophy. Right from the entrance of WSP’s newly refurbished London office at 70 Chancery Lane, a tangible change in atmosphere is felt immediately.
Here, WSP isn’t just designing for today, the global professional services company strives to set a gold standard for the future of sustainable office spaces.

The numbers speak for themselves with a staggering 65% reduction in energy demand, transforming the way the building is experienced. At 70 Chancery Lane, WSP pioneered an all-electric, mixed-mode HVAC system, coupled with advanced building management technology, resulting in a workspace that breathes easier, runs cleaner, and feels healthier.
Not just a clock in and out, employees thrive in an atmosphere that fuels creativity and productivity in equal measure. With reduced carbon emissions woven into the fabric of the building’s operations, WSP has created a space where doing better for the planet translates directly into doing better for the organisation’s people.

Visually, the space is a masterclass in understated elegance. Light woodgrains, rich navy blues, and soft neutrals form the palette that whispers calm sophistication. It’s welcoming and bright with lots of natural light, and each corner thoughtfully curated to offer a unique space setting. Areas for deep focus, casual collaboration, and simply pause and recharge, the design anticipates the ebb and flow of a workday, providing employees with the flexibility to move seamlessly between tasks without ever feeling boxed in.

Working with Day2, Spacestor integrated into Portico booths the floorplate, offering users private, acoustically balanced havens for focused work, a quick call or confidential conversations. A sleek yet functional design complements the space, with white frames blending into the backdrop, producing a polished and professional result.

For WSP, environmental considerations aren’t merely a line item on a corporate report; they are a guiding principle. The retrofit of 70 Chancery Lane goes beyond surface-level sustainability to address the deeper challenge: how to create spaces that are as efficient as they are inspiring. By opting for an all-electric energy system, WSP reduced reliance on fossil fuels, ensuring long-term environmental benefits and sustainability.
They also sought to create a workspace that lasts. From durable materials to adaptable layouts, this office is built to evolve with the needs of its users, a future-proof solution which aligns with an ever-changing workplace scene.

A statement in providing for their people and the planet, WSP have created a workplace experience which cuts carbon but amplifies comfort. Forming a place to truly excel, this retrofit is a blueprint for what is possible with great collaboration, clear aims and leading principles.
