Workspace of the Week - Bumble, Austin
You will be hard pushed to find someone who doesn’t smile when looking at Bumble HQ. Light, bright, arty and spacious, The Hive is officially one of the most uplifting workspaces you’ll see all year.

Founded in 2004, Bumble is a social and dating app. This modern-day cupid is currently matchmaking over 22 million users and counting; if the interior design is anything to go by, it’s easy to see why.

Aptly named The Hive, Bumble is a lifestyle-focused environment. Mark Odom Studio were instructed to make the head office feel like home. Bright bursts of yellow, pink and peach furniture and warming ombre walls resembling sunshine provide an all-season summer vibe.

With a company slogan of ‘bee kind’, you get the impression that employees are valued and respected, simply by the amount of thought, time and effort that has gone in to creating such an energising office.

A study conducted by YouGov and the Affordable Art Fair found that 29% of workers believe artwork should be installed in workplaces to improve productivity, and 27% said that art makes them feel happier.

Furthermore, almost a fifth of people asked said that art stimulates creative discussion, which is essential for any successful business. The aesthetics are joyful, the colours are uplifting and the claw crane machine offers employees a chance to win a Bumble prize whenever they need a boost of fun.

The CEO, Whitney Wolfe Herd said that she “wanted to make sure that the office had incredible energy and light at all times – a happy, kind and welcoming environment.” As the Queen Bee, it’s clear to see why employee satisfaction is so important to the business; Forbes’ latest report valued Bumble at over $1 billion, so the people in this hive need to be looked after to keep the atmosphere buzzing.
