Workspace of the Week - Flight Centre Offices, Toronto
Global travel agency Flight Centre have recently moved into their new Toronto workplace, which brings their staff together into a space offering a variety of work and social settings.
Figure3 have recently been tasked with the office design for global travel agency Flight Centre in Toronto, Canada.
For the first time Flight Centre's new workplace in Toronto brings 300 members of staff together under one roof. Coming from various locations around the city, employees are welcomed into a space which offers a variety of work and social settings with a stairway which connects the 7-storey brick-and-beam heritage building.
Figure3 was hired to uncover the true needs for the company's offices during their expansion nationally. Through the research and observation process, they uncovered specific elements essential to the core needs of the business.
One element to this was developing a neighbourhood planning strategy, focusing on working styles instead of departments to develop a space allowing for more flexibility and collaboration. The result is an open, modern office that tells a story of world travel and fosters lasting employee bonds.
Based around a philosophy of "opening up the world for those who want to see," Figure3 incorporated custom wall graphics featuring what appears to be intricate textural patterns, but up close are aerial views of global cities and their landmarks.
