Workspace of the Week - Mekanism Offices, New York City

Mekanism have recently moved into their new New York City location, a space which translates the "soul and science of storytelling," a concept at the heart of the growing company's mission.

TPG Architecture were engaged to complete the space design. Previously located in the Financial District, the agency decided to relocate to Hudson Square - a neighborhood with strong potential for creative tenants.

Mekanism develops marketing campaigns where "the soul and science of storytelling" is at the core of production. Founded in 2003, the company has produced content for several multinational companies such as HBO, Ben & Jerry's and Pepsi.

The redesign and relocation of the company's offices was partly a response to the success of their Bay Area headquarters. The company wanted their New York location to be equally conducive to fostering collaboration and creativity for their rapidly growing teams and so sought to own their quirky, unique company culture in collaboration with the TPG design team.

Several "wow" moments can be found throughout the new workplace, beginning with the elevator lobby. A live, moss green wall is embedded with the Mekanism logo in neon. Chandeliers adorn conference rooms cleverly named after famous nightclubs and a variety of wall coverings, textures and seating areas emulate the refined, retro and sophisticated look of the space. The office is also fitted with a variety of support and amenity spaces - such as huddle rooms, a photo studio, editing suite and a fitness centre.
